Security Update - 2025

Hi Crestwood Neighborhood Friends & Neighbors:

In case you were unable to join the Civic Club’s and Crestwood Security Assoc’s Joint Annual Meeting on April 15, 2025, The Crestwood Security Board wanted to share a few important security headlines for all Crestwood friends and neighbors. Most importantly, Crestwood Security continues to provide a very effective, continuously improving 24/7 private neighborhood patrol and crime deterrent using armed officers.

Our Crestwood neighborhood has experienced three reported porch package thefts since Jan 1, 2025. One porch theft occurred about 2:00AM while the residents were home in February. Two other porch thefts occurred on the same street, about 8:00PM in early April, within a few minutes of package drop off.   With our mostly ungated community, several neighborhood streets frequently used by the public, and alarming crime rates immediately adjacent to our neighborhood, opportunistic porch thefts are difficult to prevent.

However, Crestwood Security members are strongly encouraged to use our 24/7 patrol officer cell number to request assistance from our officer on duty to relocate your known packages to less visible locations on, or near, your porch. Also, remember that most of our neighborhood vehicle thefts occur from vehicles parked on or near the street and many have been unlocked.

Crestwood Security Assoc experienced a cash flow deficit during 2024, driven by a small erosion of membership. We currently have 160 residents who are members.  We need at least 175 members, out of a potential of 340 members, to remain cash flow positive at our current membership dues rate of $1800 per year. As a reminder, we also experienced a deficit in 2023 driven by our higher Constable patrol costs utilized when TopGun resigned with minimal notice in Dec 2022. Without improved Crestwood Security membership, the Security Board will reassess our annual dues and/or reduce our patrol coverage during the 4Q’25. We greatly appreciate and sorely need your membership !

For those neighbors who are not Crestwood Security members, please reconsider. Aside from having 24/7 access to our armed, uniformed patrol officer on duty, Crestwood Security members also receive unlimited Vacation Watch while traveling as well as assistance with unwelcome solicitors, when required.  Each individual membership helps us continue to provide 24/7 neighborhood patrol as well as keep our security membership dues as low as possible for every member. You’re most welcome to contact security@crestwoodsecurity.org for more information or a registration form.  More members help improve our collective neighborhood security !

Sincere thanks to Crestwood members for your continued participation and confidence as well as your timely, specific security feedback. Your feedback has been very helpful as we work with International Guard Service to continually improve our neighborhood security service.
